It is the mission of GMC to provide quality healthcare through prevention, education and treatment, both in the hospital and community, including services and special programs for persons with behavioral medical conditions.

Girard Medical Center offers a variety of behavioral services.

We offer these services in a manner that is client centered, culturally sensitive, and responsive to client and community needs.

The Acute/Sub Acute Psychiatric Unit is a 10 bed inpatient service, specializing but not limited to adults having a dual diagnosis. Adults in psychiatric crisis and those who been stepped down from acute are rendered evaluative and supportive services. The program provides a multidisciplinary team approach, within a highly structured treatment program.

 

The Extended Acute Psychiatric Unit known as Recovery Center is a 29 bed inpatient service. Adults having a dual diagnosis (psychiatric diagnosis and substance abuse diagnosis) and former Norristown residents are rendered, acute support services. This psychiatric rehabilitation program provides for the major assessment, stabilization and community reintegration of patients through multidisciplinary services, within a highly structured treatment program.

This psychiatric rehabilitation program provides for the major assessment and stabilization of patients through multidisciplinary services, within a highly structured treatment program.
